Ffynnon Wen Artists: Cheryl Hughes

click here for a larger imageArtist and qualified teacher Cheryl Hughes often collaborates with her partner Clinton Chaloner on environmental and public art commissions involving school and community groups.

Born in North Shropshire in 1970, she became a graduate of Fine Art from Bretton Hall College (University of Leeds) in 1993 and Goldsmiths’ College, London in 1996.

She taught Art and Design for a number of years in secondary schools in London, Bristol and Bath before turning her attentions fully to making art in the public realm. This mainly takes the form of large-scale wood sculpture.

The involvement of the public at all stages from inception to creation is paramount to her artistic practice.
